In a multi-paragraph, double spaced, MLA formatted typed response of at least 250 words, respond to the following prompt by Monday of week Two:
As we saw on the instructions for Unit One – Textual Analysis, you will be asked to select a “big question” for the semester. Chapter 30 of the OER says that “[W]hen you perform research, you are essentially trying to solve a mystery—you want to know how something works or why something happened. In other words, you want to answer a question that you (and other people) have about the world. This is one of the most basic reasons for performing research.”
For this short writing assignment, discuss your ideas about your topic in two parts:
Part One:
Why do you care about this topic?
What are your current concerns, viewpoints, and/or attitudes toward it?
What might you want to express to others about it?
Brainstorm and list keywords you would use to research info on this topic.
Part Two
Then perform an internet search of the topic, keeping track of the following items:
What search engines did you use?
How many hits did you receive?
Skim a few pages of your Internet hits, and estimate how many of these results are relevant, timely, and credible?
Give the biblographic information on one relevant and credible listing, formatted to MLA style.
Topic can be difference views of politics or something related
