Directions: The workplace continues to become more diverse. Diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging (DEI&B) are popular topics. Organizations continue to recognize the benefits of creating organizational cultures that value DEI&B, as diversity can result in huge organizational benefits. Unfortunately, despite the benefits associated with diversity and creating a culture of DEI&B, discrimination still occurs. There are various types of discrimination, as explored in Chapter 3. For this week’s Discussion, you are required to select a specific topic related to discrimination: (1) age discrimination, (2) religion discrimination, (3) disability discrimination, or another topic detailed in our Chapter 3 reading. Then, after selecting your topic, please address the following: Provide a brief overview of the type of discrimination that you explored. State what this type of discrimination is and, too, explain why you selected this topic. Explain the impact of this type of discrimination on individuals, teams, and organizations. Explain how you, as an HR professional, can prevent this type of discrimination from occurring. What HR strategies and techniques might you use? Why? Initial Posting Directions: Your initial post must be substantive and demonstrate insight/knowledge that you have acquired from the course material. Your initial post should be a minimum of 350 words in length. Each posting must be in your own words. You can use a short quote ONLY if needed. Otherwise, 95% of the content offered in your initial post must be original. All initial posts must be submitted using proper APA 7th edition referencing and in-text citations. Deadline for Submitting the Initial Posting: Your initial posting should be completed by Thursday at 11:59 PM EST. Response to Other Student Postings: It is imperative to respond substantively to the postings of at least two peers, by Friday at 11:59 PM EST. Peer responses such as “I agree with her” or “I liked what he said about that” or similar comments are not considered substantive and will not be counted for course credit. Continuing the Discussion: Please remember to continue the discussion through Sunday at 11:59 PM EST. To continue the discussion, please consider highlighting differences between your postings and your colleagues’ postings. Additionally, consider providing additional insights, additional resources to explore, and/or alternative perspectives. Evaluation of Posts and Replies to Classmates: Your initial posts and peer responses will be evaluated on the basis of the kind of critical thinking and engagement displayed. The grading rubric evaluates the content based on seven areas: Content Knowledge & Structure, Critical Thinking, Clarity & Effective Communication, Integration of Knowledge & Articles, Presentation, Writing Mechanics, and Response to Other Students.
