Purpose
With about 28-30 million Americans under 65 being deprived of access to health insurance, it is clear that something in the system needs a drastic change. In fact, despite having the most expensive health care system, the United States still ranks last when compared to other industrialized countries. Here, we ask you to tackle the root of the problem and improve the overall efficiency of healthcare delivery in the United States by evaluating the best practices from healthcare systems around the world.
Objectives
Explain how various systems issues are represented in countries around the world and how systematic design plays a role in the health outcomes of a population.
Analyze systematic components of healthcare systems throughout the world, including their historical emergence, structure, financing, and overall performance.
Evaluate components of various international healthcare systems and the implications they could potentially hold for healthcare reform in the United States
